Fri 29th March
Coastguard Studio presents ‘La Havana Jazz Club & Late Sessions’.
International world acclaimed saxophonist Gilad Atzmon will be headlining the third of our exclusive sequence of live jazz club events. As a member of the Blockheads, Gilad has also recorded and performed with Ian Dury, Sinead O’Connor, Paul McCartney, Robert Wyatt and the Waterboys. In 2014 he recorded with Pink Floyd and is featured on their last album The Endless River (Anisina).
Quote. “A formidable improvisational array…a jazz giant steadily drawing himself up to his full height…” The Guardian.
Playing alongside Gilad will be our resident musicians the talented ‘Rhythm Earth Electric Trio’.
For the ‘Late Sessions’ we will be inviting our guest DJ Ben Tier from Shakara Soul, specialising in rare groove and global sound. Much of his passion born from extensive travels in Africa, the drum beat of the world. Holding residency at the Servant Jazz Quarters London N16 8JN, a prolific dance floor filler on the circuit today.
Introducing the evening will be Drew David Robertson the voice behind Pocket Monkey Poems, a life time composer of spoken word and poetry.
A true example of a speakeasy vibe with the Coastguard stamp.
